<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a synthetic aperture radar 1, wherein when PRF is high, the reflection power of a range ambiguity component becomes large, so that a reflection signal from an area outside the area to be essentially observed appears a false image on the azimuth-compressed image. <P>SOLUTION: According to an auto-correlation code string such as a barker code, an up chirp signal and a down chirp signal are switched and transmitted. When the down chirp signal reflected at a desired observation point is received in a signal processor 13, all received signals are reversed.
