PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device making an almost same lamp current flow through a plurality of discharge lamps of which, rated output is different from each other and rated lamp current is almost same with each other at optional light control level, making the light output ratio between the plurality of discharge lamps almost same with each other, capable of deeply controlling light without causing extinction or flicker at any of discharge lamps. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises a direct current power source 10, an inverter INV, a resonance circuit 30, a light control part 40, and a control part 20, and fulfills the relation of f60%≤f0≤f40%. Almost same current is made to flow through a plurality of discharge lamps La of which, rated output is different from each other and rated lamp current is almost same with each other at optional light control level, and it is made possible to make the light output ratio between the plurality of discharge lamps almost same with each other, and to deeply control light without causing extinction or flicker at any of discharge lamps.
