PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a mobile communication terminal to be present in a packet support area which supports a packet switching function as possible. SOLUTION: A mobile unit 1 remembers a perch channel number of the area supporting circuit switching in which it was once present. If it is judged that the area of the channel does not support circuit switching based on a report information for a selecting waiting channel, the waiting channel is searched based on the stored perch channel. Then, if the waiting channel at a prescribed level or higher is searched, it is present in the area that supports the circuit switching corresponding to the waiting channel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
