PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the filling up of a memory without requiring a complicated operation by a user when performing a synchronization of file with another equipment. SOLUTION: When the file synchronization is performed between a PC and a PDA, the memory residue necessary for the file synchronization is preset on the PC side. The set value at that time is transmitted to the PDA, and held in the set data storage area 13c of a RAM 13. A CPU 11 on the PDA side detects the present memory (RAM 13) residue in the execution of the synchronization, and when the value obtained by subtracting the capacity for the size of a file designated as the subject of synchronization from the memory residue is smaller than the set value, is determines a capacity shortage to stop the synchronous processing. Since the synchronous processing of the file can be stopped according to the memory residue, the filling-up of the memory can be prevented even if the user adjusts the of files to be synchronized every synchronization.
