PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image exposure apparatus capable of information included in received image data onto a photosensitive material to the utmost even in a very low exposure amount area.

SOLUTION: This invention provides the image exposure apparatus provided with a data conversion means TG that applies gradation conversion to exposure image data resulting from exposing the received image data by an exposure head EH and in which the conversion information of the data conversion means TG is selected by density measurement information resulting from exposing an adjustment image with a plurality of density steps. The conversion information of the data conversion means TG is configured such that a relation between the input gradation and the output gradation expressed in the orthogonal coordinates is curved in a direction in which a rate of change in the output density gradation with respect to a change in the input density gradation at a low exposure is curved in a direction greater than a rate of change in the output density gradation with respect to a change in the input density gradation at a high exposure and the relation is along a curve placed nearer than a tangent at the minimum input gradation.
