PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric barrier discharge lamp with high efficiency, high light-output and high radiation intensity, and capable of irradiating the wide range of the surface with uniform irradiation. SOLUTION: The dielectric barrier discharge lamp comprises a nearly cylindrical lamp vessel 20 on which a taking out light window is formed and a central electrode 40 formed in the axial direction of the nearly cylindrical lamp container 20. At the cross-sectional surface perpendicular to the tube axis of the lamp vessel, a plurality of electrodes 41 are formed along nearly concentric circles having different diameters on the outside of the central electrode. At least one dielectric is interposed between adjacent electrodes, and a number of ring-shaped discharge spaces are formed centering on the central electrode. In the discharge lamp, the discharge spaces communicate with the inside of the lamp vessel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
