PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of producing paper treated with chitosan or DAC (partially deacetylated chitin) that solves the problems on the technology relating to conventional treatment of paper with chitosan or DAC, overcomes the problem of residual organic acid without using any organic solvent, increases strength, printing characteristic and water resistance and acquires moisture impermeability, antimicrobial and antiallergic properties in addition to biodegradability. SOLUTION: A paper is coated with an aqueous solution of chitosan or DAC and carbon dioxide so that the paper is impregnated with chitosan or DAC or they are supported on the paper.
