PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane pump preventing its side plate from sticking while the discharging efficiency of the working oil is enhanced. SOLUTION: A cam ring 4 and the side plate 19 are made in approximately the same outer shapes by forming an extension surface 22 at the side plate 19. Suction ports 20, 20 are formed by recesses opening only at the pressure contacting surface 21. The extension surface 22 is located on the outside of the suction ports 20, 20 so that the ports 20, 20 are not open at the periphery of the side plate 19. The extension surface 22 is on the plane as extension from the pressure contacting surface 21, and when the side plate 19 is installed in the body 1, the extension surface 22 and cam ring 4 will abut to each other.
