PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically mold a spiral regenerator while keeping a fixed interval. SOLUTION: As for a resin film 11, when forming a small recessed part 12 on one face side of the resin film 11 using a hitting needle 18 by a small projecting part formation device 15, small projecting parts 13 are formed on the other face side of the resin film 11 by corresponding to the small recessed part 12. A winding device 40 winds the resin film 11 to keep the fixed interval S between the wound layers of the resin film 11 after a molding process of the small protruding parts 13 by the small protruding part formation device 15. In the thus manufactured regenerator 10, a spiral clearance is formed by the small projecting parts 13 in the axial direction so that gas sealed into a Stirling cycle engine passes through the clearance to heat-exchange gas.
