PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning abnormality-detecting device for detecting the occurrence of the spinning abnormality easily and at a low cost, and capable of specifying a dominant factor for the occurrence of the abnormality, and a method for detecting the spinning abnormality. SOLUTION: This spinning abnormality-detecting device comprises at least a detecting means for an amount of light for detecting the amount of light reflected or emitted from the fiber yarns ejected from ejection holes bored on a spinneret, and a judging means for the ejection abnormality for judging the ejection abnormality of the spun fiber yarns from their altered behavior by analyzing the detected altered behavior of the reflected or emitted light, and the method for detecting the spinning abnormality is also provided.
