PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spring steel which can be industrially manufactured, and gives a spring after being quenched and tempered, necessary strength and a coiling property. SOLUTION: The high-strength spring steel includes, by mass%, 0.75-1.2% C, 0.9-3.0% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 0.015% or less P, 0.015% or less S, 0.5-1.5% Cr, 0.001-0.015% N, 0.05-1.0% W, and the balance iron with unavoidable impurities.
