PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor armature and a linear motor which are enhanced in cooling capability wherein deformation in a can is prevented and a temperature rise in the linear motor is significantly reduced by using conventional inactive coolant and further improving coolant paths. SOLUTION: In the linear motor, the can is formed into a two-layered structure comprising an inner can 2 and an outer can 3. Thus, an inner path 7 positioned between armature winding 9 and the inner can 2 and an outer path 8 positioned between the inner can 2 and the outer can 3 are formed by the cans. Connecting portions 7A and 7B which connect the inner path 7 and the outer path 8 are formed in proximity to respective coolant supply ports 5 of the cans 2 and 3 so that the coolants supplied from the coolant supply ports 5 are branched into the inner path 7 and the outer path 8 when flowing.
