<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an uninterruptible power unit which is to be used for a computer system and which is capable of performing suspension or sleep control of the computer system. <P>SOLUTION: When power failure is detected, a control circuit 6 outputs a ring signal from a signal generating circuit 7 through a like switching circuit 9 to a MODEM circuit 13 of a computer 10, and the MODEM circuit 13 outputs a start signal (Wake up signal) to a central arithmetic unit 12 to start the computer 10 when the suspension or sleep control of the computer 10 is performed.
