<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording tape drive which can wind up a magnetic recording tape without causing a level difference and does not cause the interference of the ends of flange parts with the edge of the magnetic recording tape. <P>SOLUTION: The paired flange parts 12 and 12 have internal surfaces 121 and 121 facing each other. The internal surfaces of the flange parts 12 and 12 are provided with a first region 121a at a front side in a rotating direction and a second region 121b at a rear side in the rotating direction, respectively. In order to guide the magnetic recording tape to be wound up, the first region 121a is inclined at the front in the rotating direction so that a facing distance becomes larger. At the front end in the rotating direction, the first region 121a has the facing distance equal to or more than the sum total of width including the tolerance of the tape and a substantial amount of deflection in the breadthwise direction of the tape.
