A cesium-based ceramic of hollandite structure has the following formula: AxBy(C1z1, C2z2)Dt)16, where A = a monovalent cesium cation optionally substituted partly by another monovalent cation, B = a divalent barium cation optionally substituted partly by another divalent cation, C1 = a trivalent aluminum cation optionally substituted partly by another trivalent cation, C2 = a trivalent iron or chrome cation optionally substituted partly by another trivalent cation, D = at least one cation selected from tetravalent titanium, divalent, trivalent or tetravalent manganese, pentavalent niobium or pentavalent antimony, and x, y, z1, z2 and t are selected so that the positive charges of the cations compensate for negative charges produced by oxygen.
