<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which providing a color image with deteriorated image quality to a user can be prevented beforehand by discriminating whether or not an error detection output is detected from a compensating pattern detecting means. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus, compensation action with the wrong compensating value is prevented by discriminating whether or not any error detecting signal is contained at compensating pattern detecting means 60 and 61 due to scarring of a belt, deterioration of belt reflectance and cleaning failure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
