PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set in which the liquid crystal display part of a large screen can be used as a whole by exposing operating buttons on the surface by opening a hinged panel in the case of use and the malfunctions of the operating buttons are prevented by closing the panel in the case of no use. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display part 2 of the large screen is provided almost over all the front face of a main body 1 of the telephone set, a hinged panel 3 covering one part of the front face of such a liquid crystal display part 2 is mounted to be opened through a hinge 4 to the edge of the main body 1 of the telephone set, and various operating buttons 5 such as ten key are provided on the rear face of the panel 3. Thus, in the case of use, the liquid crystal display part of the large screen can be used as a whole by exposing the operating buttons 5 on the surface by opening the panel 3, the bulk information of the Internet or the like can be displayed and the malfunctions of the buttons can be prevented by closing the panel 3.
