PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the easiness of an update of firmware by automatically downloading main equipment firmware, capable of also controlling accessory equipment, to main equipment and updating firmware, when the accessory equipment is newly added to the main equipment. SOLUTION: A firmware update system comprises an F-ROM 9 for storing firmware for the main equipment 1, a communication means for establishing communication between a service site 5 and the main equipment 1, a connection detecting means for detecting if any new connection of accessory equipment 2 to the main equipment 1, a firmware acquiring means for downloading new firmware for the main equipment 1 capable of also controlling the accessory equipment 2 from the service site 5 when a new connection of the accessory equipment 2 is detected, and an updating means for updating the firmware for the main equipment 1 stored in the F-ROM 9 to the new firmware for the main equipment 1 upon the download.
