PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-developable image recording material giving a high contrast image suitable for printing plate making. SOLUTION: The heat-developable image recording material for printing plate making has, on a support, an imaging layer containing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducer for the organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide, a compound of formula (1) or (2) and an organic binder and can form a high contrast image whose gamma is≥7 without containing an organic contrast enhancer. In the formulae (1) and (2), X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are each H or a substituent; R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>3</SP>are each H or a substituent; m and p are each an integer of 0-4; and n is an integer of 0-2.
