PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planetary gear device that supportively positions on a clutch drum an engaging member and a friction plate of a clutch with two snap rings. SOLUTION: On an inner circumference of the clutch drum 9 of the clutch C1, the friction plates 16, 19 and 44 of the clutch C1 are axially positioned and supported by the tapered snap ring 18. The engaging member 4 connected to a ring gear R is axially positioned and supported such that it is sandwiched by the tapered snap ring 18 and the snap ring 14. The support structure can thus receive oil pressure in the clutch C1 and accommodate thrust force on the ring gear R. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
