<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing toner particles by which all of volatile components present in toner particles obtained by polymerization are uniformly diminished in a short period of time and not compacted, not aggregated and/or thermally and mechanically not deteriorated toner particles are obtained. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing toner particles, toner particles formed in an aqueous medium are washed and dewatered and the resulting wet toner particles are supplied to a vessel and heat-treated under reduced pressure while charging into the vessel an injection medium selected from the group comprising saturated steam, superheated steam and highly damp air whose enthalpy is≥2,500 kJ/kg (dry air) at a temperature below the glass transition temperature Tg of the toner particles, it is characterized in reducing the total amount of organic volatile components (expressed in terms of toluene) to≤500 ppm on the basis of the mass of the toner particles in analysis of organic volatile components at 150°C heating temperature of toner particles by the head space method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
