The attachment consists of a tube (4) with a threaded connector (3) on its side for screwing into an outlet (2) in a fluid container such as an engine sump. The tube is sealed by a spring loaded ball valve (13) which is opened when a nozzle (5) on the end of a pipe connected to a collecting vessel is pushed against it. The tube is re-sealed once the nozzle is removed.
