The method involves using a power characteristic signal formed with the aid of an averaged amplitude of the real and imaginary signal components (ISD,QSD) and used to average a number of sampling values of the user signal (TNS). The real digital mean amplitude is formed by digitally summing sampling amplitudes of the real component and dividing by the number of samples.
