The invention relates to a conductor rail system comprising a conductor rail in the form of a profile having one or more open profiles, e.g. in the form of U-shaped profiles. One or more conductor rail profiles are held by one or more insulating spacers inside said profile, the above-mentioned spacers extending over the entire length of the profiles. Due to the fact that the spacers hold the current conductor at given support spacings in certain points and that they extend uninterruptedly over the entire length of the conductor rail, the ready-to-use conductor rail having current conductors and insulator can be sectioned at any given point, e.g. using a saw, without having to perform complicated treatment of the resulting front face, e.g. by placing or gluing an insulating piece optionally serving as a supporting piece. Said sectionability provides greater flexibility for the installer of the conductor rails, who can easily jump over unforeseeable obstacles during assembly or can compensate for wrong measurements made during planning.
