A method for fittings bars in a percussion instrument which supports the bars while allowing unimpeded playing, as well as providing support during transport. Plastic clips are secured into a base plate and grip into grooved in the sides of the bars. This allows positioning of the clips for the resonance setting for each note and leaves the top of the bars free. The clips are easily plugged into the base plate and can be removed to replace damaged bars. The clips allow sufficient freedom for the bars to resonate.
