MULTI-CARRIER TRANSMISSION/RECEPTION APPARATUS

A multi−carrier radio communication technique in the multi−carrier CDMA method capable of effectively using radio resources, suppressing interference, and performing cell search at a high speed. In this technique, a second synchronization code (S−SCH signal) for identifying a group of scramble codes which have been divided into groups is frequency−multiplexed on a plurality of sub−carriers. The second synchronization code is coded in temporal direction. The sub−carriers on which the second synchronization code is multiplexed are separate from one another and are arranged at an identical interval. Moreover, the number of sub−carriers on which the second synchronization is multiplexed can be set to a small value with respect to the total number of the sub−carriers. The second synchronization code is a quadrature code. The reception side performs cell search by using such a frequency−multiplexed S−SCH.
