<p>Elements are produced by (i) forming a coating mixture which contains magnetic particles dispersed in a liquid, low-molecular weight epoxy resin, with an epoxide equivalent weight or 140-1000, (ii) coating this composition onto a substrate, and (iii) hardening the coating. The resin may be a modified epoxy resin; the composition may contain a solvent with a surface tension is not >30 dynes/cm. An aromatic amine may be included as hardener. The recording element is in the form of a disc, to which the coating is preferably applied by rotation coating. The recording element can store a large amount of information i.e. it has a high "bit-load density".</p> |
