<p>The present invention relates to a multilayer piezoelectric transformer (Fig.1) that uses a composite resonant vibration mode for step-up voltage conversion. More specifically, a multilayer piezoelectric transformer (fig.1) is provided using radial and shear vibration modes for step-up voltage conversion applications. Adjacent layers of piezoelectric acts as a constraint (40) on the deformation of one face (40a) of the input layers&comma (40); leading to a gradient in the radial deformation of both the input (2A) and output portions. (2B) ,the piezoelectric transformer ( fig.1) is used in a circuit (fig.11) for providing electro-luminescent ( 200) (EL) backlighting.</p> |
