The end section (17) of the spring (5) for securing to the roller shutters (1) is releasably connected to the main part (16) of the spring. The spring device comprises a strip of leaf spring material which is secured to the winding shaft (4) at one end and is curved to form a loop (14) at the other end. This loop can be passed through an opening (11) and around a mounting web (12) at the top of the shutters (1).
