APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SAFETY OPERATION OF OUTDOOR UNIT

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to protect the outdoor unit by stopping operation of the outdoor unit in accordance with the pressure of the air of the outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a pressure measuring unit(98) mounted in an outdoor unit and which measures the first pressure of the air; and a micro computer(100) for storing the threshold pressure for the outdoor unit, comparing the pressure measured from the pressure measuring unit and the stored threshold pressure, and stopping operation of the outdoor unit in accordance with the result of comparison. The pressure measuring unit includes the first pressure sensor(92) mounted in the discharge area of the outdoor unit and which measures the first pressure of the discharged air; the second pressure sensor(94) mounted in the suction area of the outdoor unit and which measures the second pressure of the sucked air; and an air pressure switch(96) for inputting the difference between the first pressure and the second pressure to the micro computer.
