PURPOSE: An abbreviated dialing method using groups in a telephone terminal is provided to divide desirous telephone numbers to register the divided numbers in a telephone book according to each abbreviated dialing group, and to display an abbreviated dialing group and an abbreviated number of an originating telephone number, thereby easily using an abbreviated dialing function. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal is in a standby state(S210). A user inputs a number by operating a number key of a key input unit(S220). The portable terminal confirms whether the inputted number is a group number showing an abbreviated dialing group(S230). If so, the portable terminal displays a name of the abbreviated dialing group, an abbreviated number, a user name, and a telephone number on a display(S240). The portable terminal waits until the number key is inputted(S250). The portable terminal confirms whether a dial is requested(S260). If so, the portable terminal dials a corresponding telephone number(S310).
