The invention relates to a floating caliper disk brake (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising a holder (2) which is fixed to a shaft and on which a floating caliper (3) is mounted with the aid of a single bolt guide in such a way that it can be displaced and pivoted around the axis of the bolt guide (4). The floating caliper (3) is supported in the direction of the periphery on said holder (2) and overlaps a brake disk and brake linings (6,7) arranged on both sides of said brake disk (5). In order to provide a compact floating caliper disk brake (1), a first brake lining (6) is displaceably guided and supported on the holder (2) and a second brake lining (7) is supported on the floating caliper (2). As a result, peripherhal braking forces which occur are transmitted via both the holder (2) and the floating calliper (3).
