The method for control of emission limiting in a motor vehicle uses operation of the control pedals (14) as a release criterion for activation of a heater (18) of the catalysor (11). The actual temperature of the catalysor can be compared to a preset value and with a set range, the angle of the control pedals are sensed to control activation of the heater.
