Shock wave source (1) comprises a coil support (2), a coil (3, 4) and two isolating separated membranes (5, 6) for generation of shock waves. One membrane (5) is on upper side of the coil support, while the other membrane (6) is on the lower side of the coil support. An Independent claim is made for a shock wave source with a self supporting coil with membranes arranged on either side of the coil.
