The anti-lock brake system has hydraulic sender and receiver cylinders (15,19) integrated into a hydraulic actuator that forms a compact hydraulically closed unit with isolating, outlet and non-return valves and a low pressure hydraulic liquid tank (25) that does not have to be opened when assembling or repairing the bicycle. The system has a hydraulic sender cylinder (15), an electronic controller, at least one wheel brake, at least one speed sensor and a hydraulic actuator with a low pressure hydraulic liquid tank connected to isolating and outlet valves (27,28). A non-return valve (29) is connected in parallel with the outlet valve and a hydraulic receiving cylinder (19) is connected after the isolating and outlet valves.
