PURPOSE: An air conditioner for an electric vehicle is provided to increase heating efficiency by effectively preventing frost from being formed on an outdoor heat exchanger, in heating the room of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner(100) for an electric vehicle has an indoor heat exchanger(11) and an outdoor heat exchanger(12) arranged in series. The air to come in the room of the vehicle absorbs heat from a heat exchange medium through the indoor heat exchanger and the air to pass through the outdoor heat exchanger releases heat to the heat exchanger medium through the outdoor heat exchanger. The air conditioner has a heating unit for heating the air to pass through the outdoor heat exchanger, in heating the room of the vehicle. The heating unit comprises a radiator(60) absorbing the heat generated from a motor(20) used as a power source of the electric vehicle and a battery(30) used as a source of the electricity and releasing the heat to the air to pass through the outdoor heat exchanger, and a fan(70) installed at a position opposite the radiator, to suck air. The outdoor heat exchanger is installed between the fan and the radiator.
