At the discharge end of the conveyor belt (6) a scraper blade (16) is fitted which pivots on a shaft (17). It is held in contact with the belt by, e.g., a spring (20). A stop (21) restricts the advance of the blade as it becomes worn. A pointer (24) on the conveyor housing indicates the degree of blade wear against a scale (23) pivoting with the scraper.
