PURPOSE: A door open apparatus for a refrigerator is provided to allow for ease of opening of the refrigerator door. CONSTITUTION: A door open apparatus comprises a main body(11) having one or more cooling compartment; a door coupled to the main body in such a manner that the door opens/shuts the front opening of the cooling compartment; a fixed shaft arranged to the door or the main body along the axial line of the door, which supports the door to be rotatable; a fixed gear coupled integrally with the fixed shaft; a driving gear arranged to the door or the main body along the axial direction of the fixed shaft in such a manner that the driving gear is engaged with or released from the fixed gear; a linear driving unit for operating the driving gear between the position where the driving gear is engaged with the fixed gear and the position where the driving gear is released from the fixed gear; a rotating driving unit for rotating the driving gear when the driving gear is in the position where the driving gear is engaged with the fixed gear; a door open button mounted to the outer surface of the door or the main body, which inputs a door open signal; and a control unit(21) for controlling operation of the linear driving unit and the rotating driving unit so as to open the door in accordance with the signal input from the door open button.
