The wood fibers (2), for the production of fiberboards, are fed from a dosing unit (1) to a feed shaft (7) leading to a loosening roller (12) which is fitted with surface pins (13). The loosening roller rotates at a high speed, so that the pins deflect the separate fibers (6) and carry them through a shaft section (17) formed between a part-section (15) of the roller circumference and a facing wall (16), to an outlet opening (18). At least one profile (34,34a) is in the roller shaft section, across its width, with needle projections (53,53a). The combined action of the roller and the profiles eliminates any irregularities in the fiber flow e.g. fiber clumps or condensation water droplets, and the like.
