APPARATUS FOR LOW POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION

PURPOSE: An apparatus for low polarization mode dispersion is provided to remove the remaining stress from an optical fiber and minimize the polarization mode dispersion by performing periodically a thermal process for the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A drawing apparatus for drawing an optical fiber includes a mobile main heating source(10) and a fixed auxiliary heating source(12). The mobile main heating source is used for heating a prepared optical fiber preform(1). The fixed auxiliary heating source is arranged at a lower side of the mobile main heating source in order to approach an optical fiber(2) drawn from the optical fiber preform and perform a thermal process to remove the remaining stress from the drawn optical fiber.
