PURPOSE: A system for supplying and operating digital multimedia using a smart card is provided to make a user watch a high quality image at home or a directly managing store, and to enable a service provider to make a profit by receiving a commission from the user. CONSTITUTION: A supplying tool comprises an encoder(1) compressing the data of the image matter in an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)-2 mode, a storing server(2) storing the compressed image data, and a controlling server(3) controlling a process for the certification and the settlement, and controlling the transmission of the image data selected by the user from the storing server(2) to the user through a router(4). A receiving tool comprises a progressing server(5) communicating with the controlling server by installing to the user, transmitting the member information for the certification by using the smart card(12), and selectively supplying the image data from the storing server(2) to the set-top boxes, the POS(Point Of Sale System)(6) and a smart card terminal(12) for the price settlement, the set-top boxes restoring the image data to an original state, and an image output tool(8).
