Loudspeaker housing has flow venting valves built into low frequency section

The loudspeaker housing has a lower section that houses the low frequency speaker [3] and an upper section that has the high frequency speaker [4]. When the low frequency speaker diaphragm moves one way the pressure in the housing increases and in the other direction the pressure falls. Flow valves [5a,5b] respond to these changes and vent the housing to restore ambient conditions.
