PURPOSE: A hinge device for opening/closing an upper member of an office machine is provided to prevent a document feeder from being abruptly closed due to free fall drop when the document feed is opened and closed. CONSTITUTION: A hinge device for opening/closing an upper member of an office machine includes an upper hinge(113) fixed to the upper member, a lower hinge(126) fixed to the main body of the office machine, a hinge shaft(111) and a position fixing member(115). The hinge shaft supports the upper and lower hinges such that the upper and lower hinges rotate with respect to each other to open or close the upper member. The position fixing member restrains rotation of the upper and lower hinges when the upper member is opened to fix the upper member to at least one position opened at a predetermined angle. The position fixing member has the first and second position fixing parts(116,135). The first position fixing part restrains rotation of the upper and lower hinges in a direction vertical to the axial direction of the hinge shaft, and the second position fixing part restricts rotation of the upper and lower hinges in the axial direction of the hinge shaft. |
