PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to achieve improved efficiency of compression and refrigerating ability by removing the gap caused due to the expansion of the residual fluid in the cylinder bore. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a cylinder block(100) including a cylinder bore(110) formed in the lengthwise direction of the cylinder block, one or more fluid inlet ports(130) formed perpendicularly to the cylinder bore, and a pair of fluid outlet ports formed at both ends of the cylinder bore; a piston(200) arranged to reciprocate within the cylinder bore of the cylinder block; a discharge valve assembly(300) including a valve piston(310) mounted to the cylinder bore in such a manner that the valve piston opens/shuts the fluid outlet ports of the cylinder, wherein the valve piston has a flange for restraining movement of the discharge valve assembly; and a cylinder head(400) coupled to the cylinder block so as to form a discharge chamber communicated to the fluid outlet ports of the cylinder block, wherein the cylinder head has a fluid discharge passage for discharging fluid from the discharge chamber.
