The connecting device to connect the lower part of a container to a lid includes a locking element (43) which in the locking position and independently of locking means (27) on a connecting element (5) comes into locking engagement with at least one of the container walls (15) to prevent the swinging away of the connecting element. The locking element is connected to a rotational component (38) eccentrically to its rotational axis (42), whereby it executes a combined translational and pivotal movement during the transition between the released position and locking position.
