APPARATUS FOR REDUCING SOUND NUISANCE OF SPARK IGNITION ENGINE EXHAUST

In motor vehicles and more generally for combustion engines ( motor vehicle, motorcycles, lawn mowers, electric generators, work site machinery and the like) silencer and exhaust manifold help to eliminate shock waves so as to reduce sound nuisance. The present method and appliances provide for the use of another technique. It is located on the exhaust pipe (2) and resolves the speed differential between the combustion chamber and the exhaust, acting as a piston, with modified pressure by preventing the gas (3) from the combustion chamber to strike violently against the stationary air, by allowing the gas to expand in an expansion chamber (1) attached to the cylinder block. The pressure is exerted on different axes which cancel the shock wave. An adjacent pipe (4), a parallel path likewise forces pressurization and displacement of another section of the main exhaust, thereby distributing the load on the gas volume to be evacuated on the main pipe. The appliances and the method reduce sound pollution and vibrations of chemical and spark ignition engines.
