Chuck for working on thin workpieces has grip profiles on inner face of jaws

A chuck for holding thin workpieces for turning and milling has the inner faces of the jaws shaped with grip profiles which provide an axial location for the workpieces. The profiles have sloping sides to form a dovetail cross section, with axial location edges on either side. The grip profiles can be cut into existing jaws and can be applied to both inner and outer grip faces of chuck jaws.
