3,5-Dinitrobenzoate ester, 3,5-dinitrobenzamide or 3,5-dinitrophenyl ketone derivatives (I) are claimed for use as medicaments or active agents in the therapy and/or diagnosis of microbial infections in humans or animals. Dinitrobenzene derivatives of formula (I) (including their salts or complexes) are claimed for use as medicaments or active agents in the therapy and/or diagnosis of microbial infections in humans or animals.
