PURPOSE: A wheel end actuator integrated with a ventilation passage is provided to prevent the cavity from being polluted by restricting inflow of foreign matters such as dust or moisture and to avoid changing pressure in the cavity by forming the vent passage and the airtight sealing member. CONSTITUTION: In a shift mechanism for a vehicle wheel, a pneumatic annular actuator, through air pressurization and depressurization, produces movement of a clutch ring(40) to engage and disengage the wheel from the vehicle's drive axle. The components of the wheel end provide an airtight cavity in which the clutch ring is manipulated and which is subjected to air pressure change. The components include a pneumatic annular actuator, a CV-joint(18), a rotary seal between the actuator and the CV-joint and a vent passage formed between the air chamber and rotary seal and breaching the airtight cavity. An airline from the passage to non-contaminated ambient air provides continuous ambient air pressure to the cavity.
