New cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising a mixture of 1.4-di(3-methylidene-10-camphosulfonic) acid and a derivative of an amino substituted 2-hydroxybenzophenone in a suitable cosmetic support. <??>The composition contains (a) 0.1 - 15% wt. of the acid component and (b) 0.1 - 15% of the substituted 2-hydroxybenzophenone of formula(I) :- - in which <??>R<1>, R<2> = H, 1 - 20C alkyl, 2 - 10C alkenyl, or 3 - 10C cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl(R<1> and R<2> may form a 5 or 6 membered ring with the N atom); <??>R<3>, R<4> = 1 - 20C alkyl, 2 - 10C alkenyl, 3 - 10C cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, 1 - 12C alkoxy, 1 - 20C alkoxycarbonyl, 1 - 12C alkylamino or dialkylamino, aryl or heteroaryl optionally substituted or a hydrosolubilising agent from carboxylate, sulfonate or ammonium; <??>X = H, COOR<5> or CONR<6>R<7>; <??>R<5>, R<6> and R<7> = H, 1 - 20C alkyl, 2 - 10C alkenyl, 3 - 10C cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, a group -(YO)o-Z or aryl; <??>Y = -(CH2)2, -(CH2)3-, -(CH2)4 or -CH-CH3-CH2-; <??>Z = -CH2-CH3, -CH2CH2CH3, -CH2CH2CH2CH3, or -CH(CH3)CH3; <??>m = 0 - 3; <??>n = 0 - 3; <??>o = 1 - 2. <??>The first and second UV filters are present in a proportion giving a synergistic activity for solar protection. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the composition.
